Recognizing that people who have become addicted to controlled substances, the District Attorney’s Office developed the P.A.T.H. Program. The program is designed to show people a PATH to improving their own health and relationships with family and others by completing treatment for substance abuse.
The P.A.T.H. Program is a program for offenders who commit very minor criminal offenses and have been screened positive for opioid use disorder or co-occurring substance use disorder. A team of people from the District Attorney’s Office, Probation Office and Carbon Monroe Pike Drug and Alcohol Commission screen cases for appropriate offenders. A primary consideration of referring someone into the program is public safety. A person admitted to the P.A.T.H. Program is referred to treatment. If the person completes the treatment, the charge is then withdrawn.
